Kayaking
Sequim ("S'kwim") means quiet waters in the native language of the S'Klallam Tribe who lived along the shore of what is now Jamestown. The quiet water makes it an ideal spot to kayak with its variety of sea birds, quiet coves and sea mammals. Many serene opportunities await the paddler on Dungeness, Sequim and Discovery bays. There are many easy access points on Cline Spit, John Wayne Marina, Dungeness, Port Williams and Gardiner boat launch sites.
Landing on Protection Island, a national wildlife refuge, is prohibited and landing at the New Dungeness Lighthouse is by reservation only, call 360-457-8451.
